Dearest Friends, Colleagues, Students and Artists -
This is my first open course in ages and I'm very excited about it - also the first time in years that DARK CLOWN has been taught.
Please feel free to attend and/or forward on to anyone you think would love to spend an hilarious and thought provoking weekend stretching their expressivity!

What a great event D&D North East was... I'm going to try and enact a micro version of the OST method with my students tomorrow - potentially, I think this could be a brilliant pedagogical method as well as a conference/meeting method. No doubt there are already others doing this, somewhere.

Dear All
having taking quite a few notes at my first experience of a D&D session some people said they would like me to share the notes with them. So here they are and sorry for taking so long to post them. There are probably more questions than answers here but feel free to discuss.
Further thoughts, contributions and ideas on the subject are gratefully received.
My session title was: INDIVIDUAL SUSTAINABILITY OF CREATIVE CAREERS
Thoughts on the theme
Presenting yourself in specific scena…

After D&D4, I had a bit of an explosion. The first thing I did was to update my website. For years, I had only been putting up actual productions, or publishing things. You know: the stuff that happens once in a blue moon, so you rarely get to update your website. And it looks stale and old every time you go there, and you think shit, I achieve nothing of any worth.
But that's not true! My creative output is actually a lot more frequent and varied. I just wasn't putting up anything that was…

Feelgood
As we sat on the green chairs in the hall, we started by thinking there was an easy answer to this question. A disgruntled answer, which was simply to run ‘Feelgood Factor’ Musicals in large theatres. These would be the most recession proof and would be the things that people would continue to visit in tough times.
It all felt somewhat…

I write musicals, and I work with writers under the umbrella of Mercury Musical Developments. If anyone would like to know more about MMD and what they offer writers and composers, please do come and find me at D&D4 and I'll be happy to tell you all about them.
I'm also a lyricist and bookwriter who is always looking for inter-genre projects. Apart from the traditional side of the musical theatre genre, I'm interested in using spoken rhyme and rhythm, as well as co-creative storytelling thr…

I am currently finalizing my presentation materials for my piece
The Descent of Inanna for submission to the Linbury Theatre in the hope of a production offer from them! The last thing - and possibly the most important thing to have done for this is my two and a half minute "trailer". The guidelines ask for a submission in the style of a "film pitch". So I thought I should make it an AV affair. Please watch my trailer and tell me what you think!! (see My Videos on my profile)
Meanwhile I…

Being asked to host a Devoted & Disgruntled Open Space is one thing. Coming up with the invitation/question quite another. And actually hosting the thing itself, a third again.
So – being asked to host. Very nice. Thank you. I liked that bit. I always like being asked to do things. Partly I like to say yes because it’s good to do new things and I like doing new things - inevitable fear not withstanding! Partly I say yes because, as I write novels for most of my income and about 70% of my ti…
