I am mortified and covered in shame that I used this group for publicising my show, Lady in Bed. I agree that this forum should only be for people to recommend stuff. In mitigation, I wasn't quite sure WHERE on this slightly confusing site to tell lovely D&D peeps about Lady in Bed, and carelessly and thoughtlessly plonked the info in here. While I'm sure people who saw Lady in Bed would have recommended it if they'd known about the group, they didn't, and so weren't able to. I will never publicise Lady in Bed here again, not even when it's on at the Devon Fringe in June or the Camden Fringe in August. Sorry again. Alison Goldie, 'Lady in Bed'.

Hi Rebecca
I think what you say is a good thought. While I'm all for people advertising their work I think there are other places on this site and the internet as a whole to do that. What excites me about this site is that it is a place where people can come and rave about something they've seen that has excited them to the point they want to tell others about it. And that is a different thing from people telling you their own show is fantastic. Let someone else who has seen it and loved it do that on this part of the site!!

I thought this group was about recommending things you've actually seen and want other people to know about, rather than promoting our own work? It's so much more interesting to take the personal interest out of it and share positive experiences. Just a thought.

I'm very confused by the 2 message boards - the ning and the proboards forum. Anyway, I posted this on the other board too. It isn't an underground obscure piece of theatre relying on word of mouth, but it is worth telling people to see:

I am working on this, but I would genuinely only recommend something that deserves it. I want everyone I know to see it as it is utterly wonderful.

The Guardian

'Thrilling and faultless. OHP's Tosca is a triumph.'

I am directing along with 9 others new directors short 13 minute pieces that are devised, adapted or in my case self penned at the Albany in March. I have added info to events. My night is on the 11th. I have never written a piece before, so a new & slightly daunting experience, but embrace the fear!

StoneCrabs presents at The Albany….

devised and adapted by The Makers of Theatre

00:13:00, 13mins x 5 x 2: devised and adapted from tales, novels, poetry, personal stories, The Makers of Theatre presents 10 bold, shattering, humorous, hallucinatory performance pieces weaved into one explosive theatre experience.

19.45pm It costs £6/£4 concession.
Thanks.

Also liked Water Under the Bridge at the White Bear this week.

Take care,

This is my latest show, a one-girl piece that's doing its first run in London after a bunch of gigs last year (Pulse Fest, Buxton Fringe, Hackney Empire Studio). It's at Wimbledon Studio from 4-7 March at 7.45pm and there's free beer on the first night!
The Weird Sisters present Lady in Bed, written and performed by Alison Goldie, directed by Laura Lloyd.
Lady in Bed takes us on one woman’s quest for love and sexual adventure from the 1970’s to the present day. Alison enacts her tales from the frontline of love in a vital and intimate style, sometimes with compassion, sometimes with despair, often with wicked humour.
‘Funny and touching with fabulous, pithy observations on life…. thoroughly enjoyable…a brilliant piece of theatre’ Helen Abbey, BBC Online

Improbable Group went to see Betty Bourne's Show about Quentin Crisp Resident Alien. at the New End Theatre last week and it was great and very touching. I would thoroughly recommend a visit as close as you will ever get to spending an evening with Quentin Crisp now that he's gone!

Hi everyone
There's a great show on at the Tristan Bates Theatre next Monday and Tuesday evening. It starts at 9.30pm and lasts 60 minutes. The show is called G3-The Ginge, the Geordie and the Geek and is a very funny sketch show. It's at this point I have to admit I am one of the writer/ performers so I'm a little biased. However James McAvoy said about the last show "Fantastic!!! Every single sketch is funny! they're the must see sketch group!" Tickets are £8 or £6 if you book before the day and quote 'facebook offer'. See www.g3gingegeordiegeek.com for more info. hope to see some of you there.

I'm off to see 'Hotel Medea' at the Arcola in a couple of weeks. It's a Brazilian company taking over the whole space for an all-night (11.45pm-6am) promenade production of the Greek Classic. It starts from 29th Jan, running thurs, fri and sats until Feb14th. If you go to the Arcola website www.arcolatheatre.com it has full details and a link to a youtube teaser. Tickets are £22.50
